- How much does the railing cost per foot?
- How do I get an estimate?
How do we get started? - Are samples available?
- Is wood railing available?
- How does your railing hold up to the elements, specifically, salty air?
- Does the railing system meet code?
Will the railing be strong enough when someone leans against it?
Will our inspector allow railing with horizontal cables? - Which system is stronger, top mounted or side mounted?
Because the Clearview® railing system is priced according to the type and quantity of the components required for your project, it is difficult to give a reliable cost 'per-foot' estimate.
Just send us a drawing with approximate dimensions. This is all we need to provide a cost estimate for you [Read More].
We can provide a sample packet for your inspection. The cost will depend on which components you request. A refund, less handling charges, will be issued upon return of the samples.
Wood can be used as a top rail in lieu of our standard stainless steel options. We will modify the posts to receive a wood cap, provided by others.
Although no metal is rustproof, nothing holds up to the elements better than stainless steel, even in a marine environment. Periodically washing the railing with a chloride-free car wash/wax will keep contaminants from building up.
The Clearview® railing system is designed per the requirements set forth in the 2006 IRC (International Residential Code) and 2006 IBC (International Building Code). However, if your local jurisdiction has adopted its own code or amendments, our engineering department will work with them to make sure that your system is code-compliant.
The 2006 IBC and IRC have design requirements for railing systems depending on the application of the railing (residential, commercial, etc.). These requirements are applicable regardless of mounting method. As noted above, all of our systems are designed per these requirements.
- Does it come in different heights?
- What type/size is the cable?
- Do you use turnbuckles to tension the cables?
- How far apart are the posts spaced?
- How do you deal with the angle of the stairs and the different lengths of the stairs?
- Can I install the system myself or do I need a contractor?
- Are special skills needed to install the system, such as welding?
- How do you ship?
- What forms of payment do you accept?
Standard heights are 36" and 42". However, we can custom fabricate a system to meet your needs.
The cables are 1x19, SS316, 1/8" diameter to minimize stretching and view hindrance. The cables are typically spaced at 3-1/8" o.c.
Typically, no. The cables are tensioned at the ends by tightening a nut onto a threaded fitting. This allows for a clean, sleek line. However, we have hardware that will accommodate most anchoring scenarios. [View The Hardware]
Depending on factors including rail height and the type of top rail, the posts are typically spaced approximately 4' - 5' on center.
Stair components are custom fabricated to fit your particular situation.
The Clearview® railing system is designed to be assembled and installed by anyone having a basic understanding of simple tool usage.
No, there are no special skills required. Apart from a few common, household tools, we provide everything you need to complete the installation. [See What You Need]
