Facilitator: So I have a couple of questions for you. You both build fairly high end homes I would say, beautiful homes. What role would you say railings play in the overall look of the home once it’s done? Let’s start with Brian first.
Brian Abramson of Method Homes: Well, we build a lot of houses in very steep [0:03:12] [Phonetic] locations and the idea with that with use is that you want the railing to kind of disappear. What you do see, you want to be pleasing and that’s the architectural aesthetic of the design. But really you want to look at the water or look at the mountains, whatever it is.
So it’s really important that there’s something really low profile, clean that match the design of the house and again un-intrusive. So we actually did some glass railings on sites where you really want unobstructed and cables with that parameter as well.
Facilitator: Excellent. Ryan?
Ryan Hanson of Sustainable 9 Design + Build: Yeah. I agree with Brian. I think we build a lot of our houses on either creeks, around the water, stuff like that. I think that – really it’s just having those site lines but it’s also just having – in the modern aesthetic, having clean, straight lines and we also use the little silver lights too that you guys supply. I think those – at nighttime, I mean one of the houses that we have, even though it’s on a creek, you can see it on like a major road from – it stands out completely because of those lights. You can almost see cable rails around nighttime.
Facilitator: That’s cool, yeah. Lighting has become an important part of designing especially the exterior railings because more and more people are talking about not a deck. They’re talking about an outdoor living space. Lighting is just a big part of that. So yeah, I’m glad that you brought that up.
