We offer our Clearview® Railing Systems in both 304 and 316 grade stainless steel.
What is the difference? Great question! The simple answer is 304 contains 18-20% chromium and 8-10.5% nickel while 316 contains 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel and 2% molybdenum. The molybdenum is added to help resist pitting and corrosion by most chemicals, and is particularly resistant to salt water corrosion.
304 stainless steel is affordable and will work in most railing application, especially indoor railing projects.
We recommend 316 stainless steel if your outdoor railing will be in a demanding marine environment (on or very near to the ocean/salt water).
